Religious Liberty

Matt sponsored the “Save Chick-fil-A” Act (SB1978 - 86R) which states cities and counties cannot take adverse action against an individual based on their affiliation with religious organizations.

Election Integrity

Representative Krause supported SB1, the Election Integrity Protection Act of 2021 as well as co-authoring legislation that called for a forensic audit of the 2020 election in Texas’ largest counties.

Pro-Law Enforcement

Representative Krause was the House sponsor for SB1138 (85R), creating the Blue Alert System, which aids in the apprehension of an individual suspected of killing or causing serious bodily injury to a law enforcement officer. He also filed legislation in the 87th Session which would ensure there would be no “defunding the police” here in Texas.

Securing the Border

As Chairman of the House Committee on General Investigating, Representative Krause launched an investigation into the immigration crisis at the Texas-Mexico border. It was the first legislative hearing on the surge at the southern border.

Second Amendment

Representative Krause filed legislation every session in office making Texas a Second Amendment Sanctuary State by limiting the Federal Government’s ability to deputize local law enforcement to seize firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition, ultimately the measure was passed in HB2622 (87R).

Property Tax Reform

Representative Krause sponsored an amendment (HB 1333) that overhauls property value increases, changes to exemptions, and eligibility of exemptions, as well as providing valuable assistance to homeowners by providing a list of people willing to assist free of charge during the 86th Session.

Additionally, Rep. Krause sponsored an amendment (HB 988) that brought transparency to county appraisal meetings and election procedures for the board of directors by requiring that votes be decided in open meetings with specific time constraints.
